Donation policy
Mannix Library’s donation policy seeks to consider the needs of members of the library, the value of the item and its relevance to our existing collections. Given the large amount of donations we receive, we ask that you email us detailed list of the items you wish to donate including the Title, Author and Date.
Please wait until we have contacted you about your donations before bringing them to the library.
Criteria for Donation Acceptance
When we receive your list we will assess your items against the following criteria:
- The donations fall within the scope of the Library’s Collection Development Policy
- Donated items are not already held by Mannix or University of Divinity libraries.
- The physical condition of the materials. We tend not to accept water damaged or deteriorated items unless they have significant historical value and relevance to the collection.
- That the library has capacity to store and process the items
- The item format is accessible to library users
Book sale
If you are happy to donate your items, you must be aware that some items may not be appropriate for our collection and will instead be sold in a book sale. Book sales are an opportunity for members, staff, students and other interested person to obtain quality books for research, study and leisure purposes.
Proceeds of book sales are directed back to the general Library fund and are used for the benefit of members, staff and students. Donations cannot accepted if there are restrictions placed on the items’ use or location.
Archives
We have some space for archival materials, If you would like to store archival materials which are relevant to the mission and purpose of our library you can request a quote for cataloguing, storing and conserving your materials.
